Press
forming allows us to form plastics (mainly acrylic)
using a male or female mould. Atlas form acrylic
covers & trays using this technique.
Some parts are large enough to require a vacuum
assisted press forming where the material is drawn
into a cavity and the tool then presses the acrylic
to the required shape. Smaller parts can be pressed
by hand using a clamping ring and jig and then
trimmed as necessary.
After forming the parts are trimmed using either a
laser or overhead router. Atlas also make tools and
trimming jigs inside.

A tool is attached to a hydraulic ram
and pressed into the acrylic.
