.
The
drape forming process consists of, as the name
suggests, draping a sheet of heated plastic over a
male mold that is two-dimensional or with large
simple curves held down with the assistance of
clamped edges. A slightly more sophisticated drape
forming technique uses a combination of a
male-female mold sandwiching the plastic sheet.
Drape forming is widely used
for large panels that require retaining a simple
non-flat shape as in curved display wall. Another
useful application of this process is for the
construction of wide sections of odd-shaped walls
that will still retain overall even material
thickness, or for large radius bends on a panel.

This PETG hopper was
drape formed, routered and welded together.
